  Thank you, Oro.

UPDATED 7:43 p.m. Monday
Halifax Regional Police issued a warning to bank customers Monday after a senior citizen lost a significant amount of money in a scam.
The senior contacted police late Monday morning and told them how they had been defrauded last week.
Someone who claimed to be a bank manager called the victim and said they wanted some help to catch a thief. A taxi was sent to the victim’s home and brought them to the bank.
The victim withdrew some money and was then driven to another spot to turn over the funds. The money, which a police spokesman said was in the thousands of dollars, was given to someone under the promise it would be returned to the victim’s account.
That did not happen.
Police later learned that another customer received the same call but did not act upon it.
Police spokesman Const. Pierre Bourdages said investigators have yet to learn how the fraudsters chose their target. He did not know if they could trace the call that was placed to the victim.
Investigators are looking for the taxi driver and are also seeking video surveillance from the bank and the area where the money was handed over.
Citizens are reminded to be suspicious of all calls asking for money and to take steps to make sure such situations are legitimate. Personal information should not be shared without being certain of the other person’s identity or organization.
Anyone else who may have been a victim of this fraud is asked to contact the financial crime unit at 490-1985.
